Metaphysical properties
Humans have had a fascination with gold, recognised as a social status, throughout recorded history. Egyptians were the first known to use gold as a currency exchange, it is believed that gold flakes were found in Paleolithic times as far back as 40,000BC.
Gold is widespread in low concentrations in all igneous rock. It is abundant in the Earth's crust at about 0.005 parts per million. Gold is one of the densest of all metals, lustrous and precious, visually attractive in colour and brightness. Gold is one of the noblest metals, chemically reactive, and a good conductor of heat and electricity; virtually indestructable. Most gold in jewellery is alloyed with silver, copper and small traces of zinc to produce various shades of yellow gold with nickel and copper, and zinc to produce white gold.
